How to format a drive for use with an Apple system and IzzyStor
macOS 10.14 Mojave
- Plug in the flash or external drive to the Mac
- Launch "Disk Utility" which can be found in /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app
- In the top left corner of Disk Utility, click the menu button and choose "Show All Devices"
- Now that you can see the device, and not just the volumes, we will format the device. Select the device, and click "Erase" in the top menu bar.
- In the window that appears, choose the following options
Name: (any name you want)
Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Scheme: GUID Partition Map - Click "Erase"
Your drive is now correctly formatted for use with an Apple system and compatible with utilities such as IzzyStor
