Create a Windows User State Migration Drive
These instructions detail how to prepare a user state migration drive for for Windows.
Step-by-step guide
Note that you need the following in order to follow these steps:
- Blank USB drive: This can be a thumb drive or a USB hard drive. The drive should have adequate size to back up the user profiles on computers you plan to rebuild.
- Platform as a Service Windows administrator account:The account to use should be the one you use to have local administrator permissions on Windows Platform as a Service systems in your organization.
- Log on to Windows using your PaaS Windows administrator account.
- Attach and mount the blank USB Drive.
- Map a drive letter to \\umroot\mws\support\EUCMigrate\EUCMigrateVersions
- From a Mac, the path smb://usm.m.storage.umich.edu/usm/EUCMigrateVersions may be used.
- Copy Updater.exe to the blank USB drive.
- On the USB drive, right-click Updater.exe and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the EUC Updater utility.
- In the EUC Updater tool, select the Production version of Documentation and click "Download and Make Active". This will install the USM component on the
- Repeat the selection of the Production version and "Download and Make Active" steps for the EUCMigrate and USMT components.
- Click Exit to close the EUC Updater tool.
