Screen Shots
Go to Software Center and search for Windows 10 which should then bring up the “Windows 10 Upgrade (<current version)” application.
Click on the icon / application and then click on Install.
The application should start quickly after clicking "Install", however, if it has not fully downloaded yet, you will see a percentage for the current download. Once this reaches 100%, the upgrade process will begin.
The upgrade process begins with checking for basic requirements, listed above. It will then display a welcome message and show the results of the necessary pre-flight checks. If one of the checks has failed, the customer can attempt to fix this and then click the "Retry" button to run the checks again. If it passes the second time, the upgrade can continue.
If all checks are passed, a green "Upgrade Now" button will appear.
The customer has the option to either continue (green check), or cancel (red x). Once the continue button has been clicked, the upgrade will continue and the computer will reboot within a few minutes.
The computer will display this screen while updating. It will reboot multiple times during the process, but eventually will return to the normal lock / login screen when the process is completed.
If the upgrade fails along the way, the customer should be returned to the lock screen, but will receive an error message pop-up similar to this showing the failed step in the task sequence as well as the computer name, serial number, and model name. This information can be helpful when contacting the ITS Service Center or other desktop support teams.
