Nudge -- what it does and when does it work?

MiWorkspace macs use an application called Nudge. Nudge is used to prompt users to install macOS updates and requires the update to be installed within two weeks. The “nudge” will pop up on the user’s screen indicating which OS update needs to be installed and how many days the user has remaining to install it:

The user can “Defer” the nudge screen to pop up on a later date within that two week period, but on the day the update is due to be installed, the Nudge screen will stay on the screen until the update is installed from System Settings --> General --> Software Update. It is encouraged that users install the update the first time they see the Nudge screen so as not to be required to install it on the deadline day.

When a new macOS update comes out, Nudge will generally be turned on for MiWorkspace Macs on Thursday night the week after the OS update is released by Apple with a two week deadline to install the update. As an example, if a macOS update comes out on a Tuesday afternoon, Nudge will be activated the Thursday evening the next week.

However, if this two week deadline date would fall during a time when the Academic Calendar would make that inconvenient (Spring Break, Winter Break, Exam Weeks or the first week of each semester, the activation of Nudge or deadline period for installation of the OS update will be adjusted accordingly.)
