Organizations in Otto
Otto organizes systems into a hierarchy of organizational entities so that rights may be delegated and systems can inherit all of the proper configurations. The organizational structure consists of:
- Products -Top-level organizational entity such as MiWorkspace, Platform as a Service (PaaS), Campus Computing Sites (CCS), etc.
- Organizations - Entities within a Product such as ITS, Athletics, etc. Permissions are configured here.
- Groups - Entities within Organizations to which systems belong.
At the top of any system's page, you'll see a summary of the system including a breadcrumb that displays the system's organizational inheritance.
Prestage Items
A system receives all of the packages and configurations of its organizational setting as a resultant set.  In the example above (a system in its-core), if MiWorkspace requires a package like 7-zip, the system will automatically receive it.
This final set of packages and configurations is summarized on the system's prestage form, and on the system's group page.
