Problem
Group Policy settings are not being applied as expected.
Solution
The following techniques can be used to troubleshoot Group Policy application to Platform as a Service devices.
Generate Group Policy Results With Group Policy Management Console
- Log on to the computer with a user account that's a member of the local administrators group.
- Run the Group Policy Management Console from Administrative Tools \ Group Policy Management.
- In the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), right-click Group Policy Results and select Group Policy Results Wizard...
Using the Group Policy Results Wizard, select "This computer" and select the user account for which you wish to generate Group Policy results data. Only user accounts with profiles on the current computer will be displayed.
- After the wizard completes, use the Summary tab to see lists of Group Policy Objects (GPO) that are applied to the computer and/or user account as well as a list GPO's that are filtered out.
- Use the Details tab to see which specific Group Policy settings are being applied to the computer or user.
- Use the Policy Events tab to review event log messages related to Group Policy.
Review Group Policy Event Log Messages With Event Viewer
- Log on to the computer with a user account that's a member of the local administrators group.
- Run the Event Viewer tool from Administrative Tools \ Event Viewer.
- In the Event Viewer tool, expand the Windows Logs folder to reveal the Application log.
- Select the Application log and select the option to Filter Current Log... from the Actions pane.
- Using the Filter Current Log dialog, select Group Policy related event sources to filter the Application log entries to only display Group Policy related log entries that may be useful for troubleshooting.
- Click the Applications and Services Logs to display additional event logs.
- Navigate through the Applications and Services Logs folder to display the GroupPolicy Operational log.

The GroupPolicy Operational log displays Group Policy foreground and background refresh activity for both the user and computer account.
