Okta Verify Troubleshooting

For Okta Verify and Okta FastPass to function on the Mac, there are several required components.

  1. Okta Verify.app

    • The required application that lives in the /Applications folder.

      • If deleted, Managed Software Center will reinstall the next time software updates are applied

  2. Okta Verify user preference files:

    • These are the required files that store Okta Verify account settings. Deleting these files will result in unregistering your Mac. Open Okta Verify application again to add your account.

      • /Users/uniqname/Library/Group Containers/B7F62B65BN.group.okta.macverify.shared

      • /Users/uniqname/Library/Preferences/com.okta.mobile.plist

      • /Users/uniqname/Library/Application Support/Okta

  3. Okta Verify User Keychain entry:

    • Applications → Utilities → Keychain Access and search for OktaSecureStorage

      • Deleting this keychain entry will result in unregistering your Mac. Open Okta Verify application again to add your account.

  4. Okta Verify menu bar item:

    • The Okta Verify menu bar item is not required for Okta Verify/FastPass to function, but it is required when setting up your account, or if any of the above support files were removed.

      • Put the menu bar item back in place by navigating to System Settings → Menu Bar → Allow in Menu Bar, and check the box next to Okta Verify
