macOS Golden Gate (macOS 27) Known Issues
PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL ANY macOS 27 BETAS AT THIS TIME! Mac Engineering needs to verify many things before we believe it will be ready for a wider beta test on campus!
New behaviors in Golden Gate (macOS 27)
If you launch an Intel application after installing macOS 27, you may be prompted to install Rosetta to allow it to launch. If you still rely on any Intel apps, please reach out to the developer to ask when they will update their app for the removal of Rosetta in macOS 28.
Application-specific Issues
Please note: only the most current versions of applications in Managed Software Center are verified for compatibility.
We do not have the ability to check every feature in every application. If you have a critical application, we recommend getting clarification from that app’s vendor.
Dropbox installs and shows in the Sidebar – but may not populate folders until a reboot.
Excess Fonts (the “all 2000+ fonts” package) will make the fontworker process spike at 100% and not allow applications to launch for some time (maybe 30 minutes or less?) until the system has processed those fonts. (FB opened)
Native Access prompts to install “Native Access Password Prompt” to try to install the “NTKDaemon”. This indicates that the product “requires IntelMac hardware” – but this is not an issue on an Apple Silicon mac running macOS 26
Vectorworks 2026 gives a “Failure loading Support Library” dialog and quits the application afterwards
“pkg” folder is visible at the root level of the hard drive (FB filed). If you see this, don’t mess with it!
