New behaviors in Sequoia (macOS 15)

  • Applications that want to “find devices on your local network” will pop up with an “Allow” or “Don’t Allow” dialog the first time any account logs into a computer. According to Apple, this is “Expected Behavior” and we do not have the ability to control this pop-up. Some of the common apps that may do this would be non-Safari web browsers (Chrome, Edge, etc), Davinci Resolve, the “Omni” apps, Resolume Arena, Matlab and a number of others.

  • Image Removed

  • Building it is launched, per user. You may see this with Zoom, as Zoom is trying to find Zoom Room devices, but Zoom will work completely fine if you click Don’t Allow.

    Image Added

  • Applications may ask you to grant the ability to “access data from other apps.” MATLAB, SnagIt, Zoom and Zotero may show this alert when first launched.

    Image Added

  • Applications that need to use older “Screen & System Audio Recording” APIs, including Zoom and Camtasia, may trigger an alert asking you to grant the app the ability to record the screen and/or microphone This grant only lasts one month, and it cannot set it permanently.

    Image Added

  • Loading a computer from scratch will show a “Welcome To Mac” screen before you can log in . As of the current betas, we can not hide that screen.

Applications

  • Screen sharing specific application windows in Zoom may fail (you may get a “screen sharing is paused” message when trying to do this) Sharing the entire screen should work.

  • ChemDraw does not license on a clean install

  • Final Cut reports the following “incompatible” plug-ins: Exponential Audio:  Nimbus, R4 and Reverb Foundry:  M7 Link (though, this is not a new issue…)the first time.
